Online Tutoring in Kuwait: A Parent's Guide for 2026 (Costs, Rules and How to Choose)
By Shahzada Nafees Ur RehmanPublished Last updated 8 min read
Key takeaways
For online tutoring in Kuwait in 2026, parents should choose a tutor who has taught their child's exact board (Cambridge, Edexcel, IB or FBISE), teaches in Kuwait time and publishes fees up front. TutorChase quotes a market range of KWD 16 to 32 an hour for Chemistry; ours start at KWD 9 per 60-minute class.
- Gulf News reported in 2018 that expat teachers in Kuwait may not give private tuition without the ministry's approval. We found no newer official statement, so check current rules.
- Match the board and syllabus code first, such as Cambridge 0580 or Edexcel 4MA1, then compare two or three tutors in trial classes.
- Cambridge awarded June 2026 IGCSE and A Level grades in Kuwait through a portfolio of evidence.
- The IB lists five IB World Schools in Kuwait, three of them offering the Diploma Programme.
- Pakistan is two hours ahead of Kuwait, so tutors there can teach after school in Kuwait City.

How do you choose the best online tutor in Kuwait?
The best online tutor for a student in Kuwait is the one who has taught your child's exact board and syllabus, teaches at times that work in Arabia Standard Time, publishes fees in KWD and lets you try a class first. Kuwait's private schools teach British, American, IB, Indian and Pakistani curricula, so "best" depends on the course: a Salmiya IB student and a Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh FBISE student need very different tutors.
Five checks, in order:
- Board and syllabus code. Find it on the school's subject list or the statement of entry, such as Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580, Edexcel International GCSE 4MA1, IB Mathematics: analysis and approaches HL, or FBISE SSC Physics.
- Evidence of expertise. Look for a named tutor profile with a degree, institution and years teaching that syllabus. Be cautious of ratings or results you cannot verify.
- Kuwait timings. Kuwait stays on UTC+3 all year. Ask for the class time in writing, and check Ramadan arrangements.
- Published fees and policies. Price in KWD, class length, missed-class rules and any registration fee.
- A trial class. Book trials with two or three tutors on the same topic, then ask your child which explanation they could repeat.
Our checklist for choosing an online O Level or A Level tutor goes into each step.

Is private tutoring allowed in Kuwait?
Kuwait's Education Ministry said in 2018 that expatriate teachers may not give private tuition without the ministry's "expressed approval", Gulf News reported, quoting Undersecretary Haytham Al Athari. The report said teachers who broke the rule faced legal action, including contract termination.
That report is several years old, and we could not find a newer official statement when we checked on 1 November 2026. Rules can change, so ask the Ministry of Education if you need a firm answer for your family. This guide is not legal advice.
GradeUp International is an online academy whose tutors teach from Pakistan. We never send tutors to homes in Kuwait.
Which curricula do students in Kuwait need tutors for?
Students in Kuwait mostly need tutors for British (IGCSE and A Level), American (AP), IB, Indian or Pakistani (FBISE) curricula, because most expatriate children attend Ministry-licensed private schools, and many Kuwaiti families choose British or American schools too.
| Curriculum | Useful facts | Our page |
|---|---|---|
| Cambridge IGCSE / Edexcel International GCSE | Cambridge awarded June 2026 grades in Kuwait through a portfolio of evidence; private candidates register through the British Council | IGCSE tutors in Kuwait |

Pakistan is two hours ahead of Kuwait, so a 5pm class in Kuwait City is 7pm for a tutor in Pakistan. Pakistani families should also read our guide to online tuition for Pakistani students in the Gulf.
Online or home tutor in Kuwait City?
For most secondary students, a well-matched online tutor works as well as a home tutor, avoids another trip after school, and widens the choice of specialists beyond whoever lives nearby. Lessons also continue if your family travels during Kuwait's long summer. A home tutor can suit younger children who need someone in the room. Our comparison of online tuition vs home tuition covers the trade-offs.
Questions to ask before you pay
Ask every tutor or academy the same questions, in writing:
- Which board and syllabus codes have you taught, and for how many years?
- Who exactly will teach my child, and can I see their profile?
- What time will classes be in Kuwait time, and what happens in Ramadan?
- What are the fees in KWD, the class length and the policy for missed classes?
- How will you report progress, and can I join lessons?
- Which platform do you teach on, and will all contact go through it rather than a personal number?
At GradeUp International, every class is taught by a named subject expert, fees are published in KWD, parents can join any lesson, and the first class is free. See online tutors in Kuwait for class times and fees, or online tutors in Kuwait City for local details.
