Which IGCSE boards do schools in Kuwait use?

  • Cambridge IGCSE (Cambridge International Education)

Graded A* to G on most syllabuses, with Core and Extended routes in subjects such as Mathematics (0580), Physics (0625), Chemistry (0620) and Biology (0610). A student in Kuwait aiming for an A or A* normally needs the Extended route, so confirm the tier with the school before you start tutoring.

  • Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Graded 9 to 1, with Foundation and Higher tiers in subjects such as Mathematics A (4MA1). A school can use Edexcel for one subject and Cambridge for another, so we check every subject separately before matching a tutor.

When are IGCSE exams for students in Kuwait?

Full calendar by board on our exam dates page.
SessionWhat applies in Kuwait
May/June seriesThe main series for schools in Kuwait. In 2026 Cambridge awarded grades in Kuwait through a portfolio of evidence, so school assessments and mocks counted towards results. Cambridge IGCSE results for that series were released on 18 August 2026.
October/November seriesUsed for resits and by private candidates where the subject is offered. Cambridge IGCSE results for November 2026 are due on 14 January 2027.

Where do students in Kuwait sit IGCSE exams?

Students at international schools sit IGCSE exams at their own school where it is a registered centre, and the school enters them and confirms tiers and coursework.

Private candidates register for Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel exams through the British Council in Kuwait, which sets a minimum age and asks for documents such as a passport or Civil ID copy.

Exam arrangements in the region changed at short notice in 2026, so check the British Council Kuwait website for current deadlines, fees and venues before you plan revision around a series.

Is private tutoring allowed in Kuwait?

Kuwait's Education Ministry has said that expatriate teachers may not give private tuition without the ministry's express approval, and that teachers who break the rule can lose their contracts, as Gulf News reported from the Ministry's undersecretary in 2018. That report concerns teachers working in Kuwait, and we could not find a newer official statement.

Our tutors teach live online and never visit homes. Rules can change, so if you need a definite answer for your family, ask the Ministry of Education directly.

How did the June 2026 changes affect IGCSE students in Kuwait?

Cambridge International awarded grades in Kuwait through a portfolio of evidence for the June 2026 series, rather than through written exams. That made classwork, school tests and mocks count for more than families usually expect.

Current students should treat every school assessment seriously, while still practising full past papers under timed conditions for the next written series. We plan tutoring around both.

Which IGCSE subjects matter most for later study in Kuwait?

Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology usually matter most, because they feed directly into A Level and AP choices and into medicine and engineering plans. English is also important for students moving between school systems.

We match by board and syllabus code rather than by subject name, because Cambridge 0580 and Edexcel 4MA1 teach similar maths through very different papers.

Which IGCSE subjects do we teach students in Kuwait?

Each subject page lists the syllabus codes, papers and topics we cover.
